Attendance, Giving Increase

For the fifth straight year, weekly worship attendance increased last year at Free Methodist churches in the United States.

While the growth was small, the Free Methodist Church – USA continues to be one of the few Christian denominations that is not experiencing attendance losses in the United States. Between 2011 and 2016, average weekly worship attendance in Free Methodist churches increased nearly 12 percent.

Since 1968, the number of people in the United States who identify as Protestant Christians has decreased by more than 21 percent. During that same time, membership in the Free Methodist Church – USA has increased by nearly 50 percent.

For the third straight year, total giving increased to local Free Methodist churches in the United States last year. The denomination’s annual reports show that total giving to local churches was up nearly 3 percent over the prior year. Average giving to a Free Methodist church last year was $188,201.
