3 years ago written by

On behalf of the Academic Office and Search Committee, Central Christian College of Kansas is pleased to announce that the Rev. Mindi Grieser Cromwell, Ph.D., will be the Edris and Albert Chaney Bible lecturer and will hold the position of the ministry and theology chair at Central Christian College of Kansas in the fall of 2020.

Cromwell holds a Ph.D. in historical theology from St. Louis University, with a dissertation titled, “We Chose to Travel Light”: The Sisters of Loreto Reexamine Their Apostolate of Education, 1952-1968. Further, she has 13 years of higher education classroom experience from Spring Arbor University and Greenville University. Being ordained in the Free Methodist Church, Cromwell’s other activities include holding the position of chair of the Free Methodist Committee on History and Archives, holding the position of conference credentialing coordinator at the Great Plains Conference, and a preaching rotation at the Cedars nursing home.

When providing a statement on teaching in the classroom and CCCK’s mission, Cromwell states, “In the classroom the classically orthodox theology that the Free Methodist Church holds to allows us to speak to students who are both unchurched and from a wide variety of denominational backgrounds.  What makes us unique, then? I believe it is the holiness message that when we meet Christ and follow Him, our lives are to be continually transformed by growing in His grace. This ties into Central’s mission to provide ‘Christ-Centered Education for Character.’”

Throughout the one-on-one discussions and search committee interview, all who encountered Cromwell commented on her genuine kindness, intelligence, honesty, and love for the Lord. Academic Dean Jacob Kaufman shared, “I am thrilled to have her on board as we continue our mission and shape the students here at CCCK: heart, mind, body, and soul. We are excited to see what the Lord has for the Ministry and Theology Department under the leadership of Dr. Cromwell.”

She lives with her husband, Great Plains Conference Superintendent Bruce Cromwell, and two children in McPherson, Kansas.
