The healthy state of churches and disciples is to multiply. With this belief, the Free Methodist Church – USA and Gravitational Leadership have partnered to provide two days of training and encouragement for pastors and leaders with tracks for disciples, leaders, churches and superintendents.

The Multiply Conference will be held March 8 and 9 at the DoubleTree by Hilton Hotel Detroit-Dearborn. The conference is aimed at church leaders and members ranging from overseers to people who do the groundwork. It will offer something for everyone from breakout sessions to panel discussions to general sessions with inspiring speakers and worship.

“I am inviting you with great excitement to the first Multiply Conference, hosted by the Free Methodist Church,” said Bishop Matthew Thomas, an experienced church planter who is scheduled to give the closing message. “This conference is aimed to help you make new disciples, develop new leaders and plant new churches. This is a conference you will not want to miss if you desire to see expansion through your ministry. Register soon; bring your staff; bring your leadership team.”

Other general session speakers include Michael Forney, the Southern Michigan Conference’s assistant superintendent of leadership and multiplication, Gravitational Leadership’s chief executive officer and lead strategist, and the co-author of “Gravity: Seven Essential Truths About Influence, Leadership and Your Soul”; Larry Walkemeyer, lead pastor of Light & Life Christian Fellowship in Long Beach, California, and the superintendent overseeing church planting for the Free Methodist Church in Southern California; Ben Sigman, lead pastor of Timberlake Church (the nation’s largest Free Methodist congregation) in the Seattle area; Leonard Sweet, a leading author, scholar and Drew University evangelism professor named “One of the 50 Most Influential Christians in America” by The Church Report; and Brian Warth, the author of “Young Man Arise” and the founding and lead pastor of Chapel of Change Christian Fellowship in Paramount, Long Beach and Carson, California.

Breakout session speakers include some of the general session speakers along with Sheila Houston, a Free Methodist elder, the president of Rare Coins Ministries and a leading authority about working with victims of sex trafficking; Michael Traylor, a Free Methodist elder, the director of the denomination’s African Heritage Network, and a pediatrician; Ron Kuest, the founder of the Institute for Spiritual Leadership Training and the co-author of “Gravity” with Forney; Don Ross, the founder of the Turnaround Church Coaching Network and the author of “Turnaround Pastor”; Annie Roberts, the executive director of Gravitational Leadership; and Josh Hebert, the Northwest Ministry Network multiplication facilitator who also drives the innovative ministry, guest experience and church planting initiatives for Gravitational Leadership.

The conference will also include a panel discussion on the “Pitfalls and Opportunities of Church Multiplication.”
