Prayer and Community Transformation

6 years ago written by

Transformational revival’s starting point is intercessory prayer birthed from the humble hearts of God’s own people. God says He will hear from heaven, forgive sin, and heal our land if we humble ourselves and pray (2 Chronicles 7:14).

The National Prayer Summit will be held Feb. 22–24 at Spring Arbor Free Methodist Church in Spring Arbor, Michigan. Registration is free. Two meals and all materials will be provided. Visit npmfmc.org to register.

The first expected outcome for Free Methodist Church – USA congregations is “prayer saturation,” and the accompanying admonition is to pray first, act second. The National Prayer Summit will voice the compelling call of Christ for the whole church to re-center our ministries around intercessory prayer. Come and be personally transformed and then return home, seeking God for transformational revival for the communities in which you serve and minister.

The call is for the whole church, not just the leaders.

“Declare a holy fast; call a sacred assembly. Summon the elders and all who live in the land to the house of the Lord your God, and cry out to the Lord” (Joel 1:14).

Worship

Worship for transformational revival. Add your voice to times of corporate worship; add your presence to this sacred assembly. Worship with family from all over the FMCUSA.

Teaching

Hear encouraging and empowering teaching for transformational revival. Bring your willingness to pray and openness to be taught. Our keynote speaker, George Otis Jr., is a noted documentarian who has linked revivals from all over the globe to one powerful common denominator: intercessory prayer. His teaching and stories will ignite your readiness to pray.

Workshops

Participate in one of three workshop tracks for transformational revival:

  • “Community Transformation” with Steve Beaumont. Beaumont’s ministry with Bethel Church in Redding, California, sees local businesses and organizations transformed through on-site intercession. You will be taught, then go on-site in the local area, engaging with teams who will pray over local businesses and organizations.
  • “Choosing Mary’s Place” with Doug and Margie Newton. Revelation from Scripture studies will increase your confidence and competence in praying. Doug Newton’s anointed insight into the Scripture will be taught and then practiced in this workshop.
  • “Personal Transformation” with John Piippo. For more than 40 years, Piippo’s systematic intercession and prayer have changed his life, the life of the church he pastors, and his community. Piippo will guide you into times of prayer aimed at personal transformation, opening the way to be people of prayer, not just people who pray.

Prayer Imaginarium

Journey through the Prayer Imaginarium: a video interactive resource that teaches a two-stage process of intercession, seeking God for more than we could ask or imagine.

Resources

Gather resources to take home. Books and other resources for a deeper intercessory prayer life will be available for purchase.

Intercession partners with God to open doors, turns hearts, and release the Spirit’s drawing power. Our land needs healing. God has power. We are ready to humble ourselves, pray and seek His face.

We hope to see you in Spring Arbor at the National Prayer Summit.

Brett and Barb Heintzman are the event coordinators of the National Prayer Summit and regional mobilizers for the National Prayer Ministry.
